Volunteer opportunity description

We need your support speaking with residents about the importance of spaying or neutering their pets so that we can see a decrease in the number of stray animals on the streets.  With your help we can reduce the pet overpopulation in Houston and see fewer homeless animals left on our streets.

You will be an advocate for the Healthy Pets, Healthy Streets Spay/Neuter Initiative, which provides FREE spay/neuter surgeries for residents in our targeted low-income neighborhoods.  Fluency in Spanish would be an excellent addition to our team, but certainly not required.  Please contact our volunteer coordinator, Kim Kimmey at kim.kimmey@rice.edu.  Thanks!

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate the importance of spay/neuter to members of the community effectively
  • Spanish fluency is not required, but could help in some cases
  • Must be over 18 years of age or accompanied by your parent/guardian when out in the community
